The Maude Kerns Art Center presents “land•scape,” opening with a public reception from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, July 19. The exhibit features different perspectives on landscape by photographer Samuel Fee, painters Dianne Maher and Dorene Steggell, and mixed media artist Pam Serra-Wenz. “land•scape” is on view through August 30.

Samuel Fee is a professor at Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. He photographs desert environments, and in 2012 had a solo show of his photographs, “Desert Textures,” at Pennsylvania’s Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts.

Dianne Maher, from Albuquerque, explores the dramatic effects of stormy weather in a mountain landscape. She graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from the University of New Mexico. Last year Maher exhibited in Expressions West at the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay.

Corvallis artist Pam Serra-Wenz uses a technique that she calls “sub-illuminated mixed media scrafito,” which involves applying and removing paint with tools other than brushes. She has exhibited in venues in Oregon and California, including The Arts Center in Corvallis.

Local artist Dorene Steggell is a painter and printmaker who received an MA in Architecture from the University of Oregon. In her work she contrasts the landscapes of the Willamette Valley and Eastern Oregon. Steggell had a solo show in 2012 at the Firehouse Gallery in Grants Pass.
